In the Tarentaise, Belleville valley and valley des Dorons, Moûtiers is the anteroom of the famous " Three Valleys " of Courchevel, Méribel and the Belleville resorts. The latter composes what resembles a very long ribbon, hanging at the end of a road at the opening to a gorge. The wealth of baroque art is shown in its full glory in two of the most important buildings in St-Martin-de-Belleville : the Parish church and the Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie sanctuary.Frequented since the 16th century and altered at the beginning of the 17th century to welcome an increasing number of pilgrims, it was erected according to the style of a Greek cross with four radiating chapels. It celebrates the life of the Virgin Mary and Oudéard’s paintings on the dome are dedicated to her ascension.
